Basically my inspiration started from a sort of Alien Mermaid but then it became an Octupus Mermaid.
First I realized the headgear by papier-maché. I know it’s so preistorical, but it was the only fast way at the moment.
I started from the bearing structure, crossing two brow-band to support the structure, then I created the tentacles with newspaper using a wire like a scheleton to make it easy to create the shape.
After that I used paper and glue to make everything uniform and solid. Then I modelled all the details by the same way, leveled and then painted.
Then I did the mermaid tail with a plastic tablecloth, which gives a more wet and adherent effect.
I cut and glued the scales with the same material alternating these ones with shimmer petals.
At the end I glued upturned petals at the back to give the small fins effect.
I hope you will enjoy the video.
