THE JACK SPARROW SKELETON TRANSFORMATION PROJECT
Hi! My name’s Federica Miani and this is my entry for the “Cinema Makeup School’s The Next Level of Cosplay”.
I’m 24 and I come from Italy; I’m a student attending the last year at the faculty of Fine Arts theatrical costume and set design at the Venice University. Last year I also attended the Makeup professional courses at the Kryolan Venice Makeup Academy where I specialized in beauty, fashion and historical makeup.
I know that I still have to learn a lot about makeup so I would like to develop, grow and complete my training, specializing in movie and special effects makeup. I love the transformation and the creation of the characters and I wish I could work in the film industry so joining the Cinema Makeup School could be the first step to realize my dream.
Now I’m showing you my personal interpretation of Captain Jack Sparrow of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” with the aid of my friend Louis. I represented the moment of the movie in which Jack under the moonlight turns himself into an immortal skeletal being.
I thought it would be interesting not to represent him as a real skeleton but rather to characterize the transformation, where just the parts of his body under the moonlight are revealing the curse.
That’s why I made up just half face, half neck and the arm; to emphasize this half-transformation I used some shreds of dirty and aged fabric to create a ripped sleeve that I added to the costume.
I also used some locks of white hair on the wig and some tufts of white beard on the side of the body under the moonlight.
That’s the result:
So… Are you scared?!?
P.s.: Thanks to Louis Guglielmero (Cosplay) and Cosimo Barletta (photo, video and editing) for the collaboration
